In the world of Korean dramas, precision in detail and flawless production are often the norm. However, even in the best of shows, some unnoticed mistakes can slip past the viewers’ eyes. In Frank Speaking – Episode 4, particularly between 10:51 and 11:47, I spotted an unforgivable continuity error!
In this scene, one of the characters is drinking coffee. However, moments later, the coffee cup magically appears on the table without him placing it there. Then, unexpectedly, the cup is back in his hand without any movement showing him picking it up!
This type of error is known as a Continuity Error, where details within the scene change illogically between consecutive shots. These mistakes might seem minor, but they can affect the coherence and credibility of the story.
Continuity errors are among the most common cinematic mistakes, occurring when details don’t match between different shots of the same scene. In this instance, the director or the continuity supervisor could have avoided this error by paying closer attention to the cup’s position.
Does this error affect the storyline? Perhaps not directly, but it certainly distracts the keen-eyed viewer and breaks the immersion. These minor details highlight the importance of the role of a Script Supervisor in film and television productions.
These errors may seem minor, but they reflect the level of precision and attention to detail in artistic productions. If you’re a fan of K-dramas or cinema in general, have you ever noticed such mistakes? Share your thoughts in the comments!
